Day two set up of 'Cocoon' ; Set to weaving a large dreamcatcher within an old tent frame that used to belong to my friend Amanda, it was great fun spinning it around my waist whilst i sat in the chair weaving it.

My Dad and step mum helped me knot up and weave some areas that required two or more hands and the fabulous forum team climbed the ladder to stabilise the structure within its setting and created a superb projection backdrop with ambient sound.

On 3rd and 4th of February 2016 Johanne Couldrey and I invited the public to help us freeform crochet a Totem Pole at 'Makers' Month' in the Forum.  Between us we created a playful and calm atmosphere where people felt at ease to have a go at crocheting without following any patterns.  We provided a varied size of yarns and hooks, from 5mm to 25mm, which I think helped individual inventiveness due to the scale of the tools and materials being a change to what they were used to. Playing with different stitches to form shapes or imaginary animals, which, similar to the totem poles of North America, told a story about all who took part.  I totally loved demonstrating the nature of freeform doodling in yarn and creating a communal piece.  You can visit the forum to see 'Totem' in their gallery space until 27th February 2016.
